Dallas Acoustic Wave Therapy Q & A
Q. How does it work?
A. We use a machine called the D-Actor. The device uses a ballistic handpiece that generates acoustic waves that causes the connective tissue to rapidly contract and expand, improving its flexibility. The vibration also causes mild bruising in the hypodermis. The natural response of the body is to develop more blood vessels to better supply the area with nutrients necessary for the healing process.
Q. What areas can be treated?
A. We can treat the front of the thighs, back of the thighs, bottom and lower abdomen.
Q. How long does the procedure take?
A. It depends on the area being treated. It will typically take 15-20 minutes per treatment.
Q. Is it painful?
A. No. The only effect felt is a vibration on the skin.
Q. Is it safe?
A. While all procedures have potential for harm, AWT is safe.
Q. How many treatments will I require?
A. Patients require 6 treatments done twice a week for three weeks.
Q. What results can I expect?
A. You will experience firmer, smoother skin in the areas treated.
Q. Is it permanent?
A. Single maintenance treatments done once every 3-6 months are required to maintain the improvement.
Q. Are there any side effects?
A. Side effects are rare and are generally limited to a mild bruise.
